305 Air Cleaner

It seems the chap that had this before changed from a carb to TBI and I was wondering if I should just get a single snorkle or will a dual snorkle is worth searching for? Because I cant find a dual snorkle for the life of me lol!

Any suggestions?

1991 Firebird TBI 305.

Re: 305 Air Cleaner

The single snorkle's are very restrictive -- like trying to
breathe with a little finger in each nostril. Dual snorkles
without the cold-air collectors will probably not do much
better than the open element you show.

I'd like for some other chaps to chime in. You show a
'bird, and all the good cold air configs are from 'maro's.
Any 'bird owners put the cold air intakes under their hood?

Re: 305 Air Cleaner

Your right, dual snorkels without the cold air tubes is not much different from open element. I have a dual snorkel intake on top of the LO3 in my camaro, but no tubes (you think finding the dual snorkel is hard, try finding the left hand scoop!).

Also, the dual snorkel will NOT work with the stock position of the AIR diverter (the block box behind the AC compressor). So, I had to take it out. Now my car should fail visual inspection, but theres shops that don't look for that in philly

As a non-performance side note, people take notice to the dual snorkel assembly. Its nice, because nothing else under my hood is worthy of any compliments

Do you have any pics of this setup?

Is there any steps that a person should take in going from a "Air Cleaner" set up to a "Open Air" set up? I mean I have heard pluggin and what not? What are some steps and advice for us to follow?

Re: 305 Air Cleaner

First picture shows the assembly on top of the engine. the second pic shows where the air diverter had to come out.

I really want to find a way to reroute the air diverter so i can get back to emissions legally and not have to worry about that. Someday...
