ok so I go out to the junk yard to get a escm module for my 88 camaro 305tbi...and find one off a firebird 89 w/ a 305tbi the only difference is the color of 1 of the wires on it...my wire to the knock sensor is white....and this one appears to be purple...cause all the other wires match up...so what do ya think solder the purple to the origional white???? anyone have any good wiring diagram of birds and camaros thru out the 3rd gen years.??

According to my references GM used Dark Blue or White color wire in Circuit 496 which connects Pin E of ESC module and Knock Sensor. As far as electrons are concerned they are color blind. Hence, as long as you have a complete circuit you should be fine. Also, make sure that knock sensor and ESC module are for 305 TBI. There is a load of information in a sticky which lists part numbers.
