im getting fed up with my car
now its getting worse. when i turn the car on any setting on the climate control except for off it acts up. it backfired twice last night becuase i tried to run the heat. i dont know what to do with this car anymore. she's a runner when you dont have to use any fans. try to use any fans it runs rough and can backfire. when i say surges, im mean its sevre. not a minor drop in rpm but 1-2k rpm jump up and down on the tach. could my computer be going bad? how much is a replacement TBI computer. are any of these mentioned systems even controled or linked in any way to the computer. i dont think they are but im not sure. if i take the car to a good shop will they be able to fix it or will they have the same results i have. what kind of tools do they have that i dont. i dont want a $300 bill with no results. what do i do with this? could it both fans be bad, or the climate control unit?

make sure your battery is good & the connections are clean & tight.
look for bad grounds, battery to body & motor, and motor to body.
check for power problems, with a DVOM, you can see what the voltage is at the power input side of the ignition coil, then turn the heater on & see what happens.
if you have a way to scan the computer, look at the battery voltage & see what happens when you turn the heater on.
