LT1 cam for my 93 Caprice

I posted here a week or so ago about my rich @ WOT problems. I have since disconnected my EGR and plugged the vacuum line and I may have leaned the mixture to more proper values.

Anyway, I am about to buy an LT1 cam - it was from a 96 Camaro LT1. Specs are:

.447/.459 I/E
200/207 duration

That is with 1.5 rockers.

My question is, what will I have to do to my engine besides install the cam (and grind that pin, if it has it) to make my 350 TBI L05 make some power? As I understand it, I will start to get lean around 4000-4500rpm (9C1 injectors for the L05 are 65 #/hr I think). I also understand that I should install a vFPR to get some more fuel at WOT but retain part throttle drivability, emissions and mileage.

What have people done, how do you do it, do you have dyno results, etc. etc. ?

I'm shooting for 200 RWHP from this combo (stock heads) through my 4L60.

Thanks.

um I'd think you'd need a chip. The L05 heads are pretty restrictive and suposedly respond very well to some porting.

Hey Kevin, I too have a 93 that I am working
on. I'm going with the LT1 out of a Vette.
and 1.6 roller rockers, LT1 Springs, self
porting of the heads, and larger TBI but
regular injectors until it can be run and
tested.
IF you are looking for 200, I bet you'll
make it. I have a stock LO3 in the car now with only a CD ignition and got 140 RWHP.
I am hoping the combo with headers and true dual exhaust will get closer to 250-275 RWHP.

Keep us posted on how far you get.

Something was messed up with my mixture I think when I made 5 dyno pulls a few weeks ago. I got a best of 155rwhp. The air/fuel ratio was down in the 10:1 range up near the HP peak, which is probably why it was so poor...

I just did the front suspension this weekend - it was a long time coming. I guess the cam is the Next Big Mod, but that will be in the coming months.
