Please help, code 32

Will it help to take your egr valve off and clean it?

I continue to get a code 32. I replaced the EGR seleniod because the old one was broken, but I still get the code. Since they want $50 for a new egr valve at autozone, will it help to clean my old one up real good and see if it fixes the problem before buying a new one? I also get the surging in gear while idling. Would this indicate that the egr vavle is not closing at idle?

I replacd a 305 with a 350 a couple months ago. Other than this, she's running good.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: Please help, code 32

Code 32 on a TBI is a very common problem because of the way the EGR valve operates. Did you do a search here to see how others have solved their problem?

Yes, I searched, but I couldn't find any clear resolutions. Can you take it off and clean it? Thanks for your reply.
