I'll get it running tonight if I get help with timing
Ok, when it says in the chiltons manual to ground terminals a and b in the aldl to adjust the timing, does that mean ground both of them or ground a to b, since a is supposed to be a ground?
What year is your car, If you have a earlier Thirdgen say 82-85 timing will be differnt, if you have a 86-92, you have one wire connection which must be disconnected before and timing is performed, then once you have set the timing shut the car off and reconnect the wire, and check the timing again, you should be 0 degrees Before Top Dead center (BTDC) if you automatic tranny you will have to have somone put it in drive and hold the brake, if you manual you can just time it at idle speed and without being in gear...any other question email me at Londonaftermid21@aol.com

1 Turn the car off and disconnect the EST wire
2 restart the car and it will run a little rough and throw a code (don't worry) put your light on it and set you BASE TIMING.
3 Turn the car off and then replace the EST connector and if you want to clear the code then remove the + side of the battery for a few minutes.
4 you should be on your way.....

Brian hasn't gotten to the track yet. We should be going some time soon to an 1/8 mile this winter. It's running dog rich (108 BLM pegged) but it pulls hard enough to plant you into the seat pretty good.
His method of setting base timing is exactly how you're suposed to do it.
As for grounding the a and b terminals on the aldl....that's to set min idle!
Do this, wait a little while until you see that the stepper motor (your IAC) plugger is all the way out (no vacuum leak) then unplug it. Turn off the car, take out the a to b paperclip, turn the car on and adjust min idle to about 500-600 for a stock Lo3 with minor bolt ons. Turn off the car, plug the IAC back in, turn the car on. It should idle pretty high and then come down, just wait and it will. You might have to adjust base timing and min idle back and forth because both are needed for a good idle that doesn't stall when put in gear etc.
