Just so I know

What does an OBDII and and OBDI connector looks like? I am asking because I have the computer connector on the drivers side underneath the steering column. I thought that was odd because usually in a 3rd gen the computer connector is under the passenger side dash isnt it? I have a few pics of under the dash; just want to know if this is a normal thing or someone moded under the dash.

Re: Just so I know

Thanks for the encouragement; the engine compartment has leaves, twigs and nuts from trees; my uncle cleaned most of it out its just near the firewall it has the crap in it. would using a low pressure washer effect the tbi setup/electronics in the engine compartment. I just want to get it clean but not damage anything.

I also posted a comment about the SES indicator lighting up when I have revved the engine and ran it for about 10 minutes above 25mph and after that happens the car runs great. The gauges are fine except for the oil temp gauge sticking every once in a blue moon

It would probably do ok, but it may be safer to use a leaf blower or something similar to just blow the dust and dirt out.

Also, what codes did teh computer give after the SES came on?

Re: Just so I know

A paper clip will work. See the tech articles on this site. There is also winALDL, which is free and requires a homemade serial cable or OBD-1 cable from moates along with tunerpro-RT.

Re: Just so I know

Right now money is the key issue; just paid 700 to get the car runnin but didnt see this happen. So after I get my financial situation together (gotta love child support) I will save up some bones to get me a scanner and other tools I need besides getting some parts for the car.
----------
I got the ALDL download program, I have my laptop just need the connection from the pc to the car and since the connector is right under the steering column I can just sit the laptop in the passenger seat and read it

Re: Just so I know

I will tell ya this, even though that SES is annoying the car runs great; I keep getting soccer moms in their minivans as well as old men that are way past their driving age (more harmful than good) around time and I just get up to speed and pass em just to get away from the future accidents that maybe headed my way. Other than the small issues the car is solid; no rust just needs the nose fixed alittle (hood settled right) painted and alittle minor interior fixer upper the car is great.
