my brother has a 305 tbi and my dad just about finished it up and now it will start up and idle for a few seconds and then die , also if you get it started and give it gas to get the rpm's up it instantly shuts off. Its an 88 firebird. It ran fine before it sat there and it was even moved a few times in a garage to get to things . What the heck should we look for ????I have no clue and the rest of us here dont either, i need your help tgo guys and gals.

 

sounds like a sensor gremlin or something... better find out if it's fuel spark or air its not getting... IAC messed up or unplugged (probably not) more than likely its a fuel or spark issue. Check your map sensor vacuum line too, im not sure but i think you might be able to start the car without the map but after it settles it will die without the map sensor reading.... someone else... I dont know trouble shooting very well.

 

Check Fuel pressure - got to have 12 psi all the time. Also check your oil presure switch. Make sure that you do not have bad OPS (and wiring harnes) which may cause your four second shutdown.

we were thinkin it might have been the oil pressure switch , ill let the guys know and we will see what we can do to try and fix it , and if we find out ill post on here and let you know .

 

any other things they should look for , my dad and grandfather have been looking but dont know about tbi , their used to carbs , and im not aruond during the week to help , so lemme know if you have any ideas or places to start .
