Any Help?

I am horribly confused..... I have been looking at the TBI buildups and its confusing, i am not very TBI oriented. I was just wondering straight up, what can i do to make her gain hp? What ind of headers, TBI unit, heads maybe? idk i'm not familier with TBI. Thanks and help would be appreciated. Also i'm looking to not spend a whole lot of money. Thanks

Re: Any Help?

Any performance mods that you do can add HP Headers/cams/intake/Injectors etc. Its still a normal engine even if its a tbi. You can use a carb style intake with an adapter to make your choices Vast. Any headers that fit the vehicle will be an inprovement. Once you start getting into cams and heads you may want to invest in some chip burning/tuning equipment to get the most out of your combo!!! Hope that this helps a little

Re: Any Help?

Check out Moates.net for info and tuning equipment. As well as look into the search option in this forum for a vast array of knowledge. You need to do some searching yourself to find what you want but you can ask here as well. Everyone is normally willing to help out!

Re: Any Help?

So what kind of headers are a good kind to use with my 305 tbi? Also how do i get it back the the stock mounting spots? do the headers have to come out 3" then make my own pipe to go back to where the catty is? or do they sell kits the make the pipe go from the headers to where i would replace the old catty with a high flow 3"?

Re: Any Help?

Do some internet searching!! You can get shorty headers to bolt right up to your engine and pre-existing exhaust and ypipe. Or you can go the full length header option and get an exhaust shop to redo your exhaust and ypipe!! As for what headers to use that is up to you and how much money you want to spend etc.

Re: Any Help?

that...was entirely unneccessary. from what I'm reading he did nothing but help you. the thing is, you kind of have to be thrown to the wolves a bit because in the end it mostly comes down to personal opinion as to what you want to do and who you want to buy from. any combination of parts will make you decent power gains, certain ones will do more but cost more, while others do less and cost less. some are a happy medium.

anyway.

go to summit racing, or jegs, or just do a general google search for 88-92 camaro headers...and go from there. there are many stickies at the top of this board that can give you advice on headers, catbacks, so on. as for getting rid of the cat...if you have any kind of emissions testing in your state, be wary of what exhaust place you take it to, as some will actually turn you in for not having one, much less asking them to install a pipe to replace that section of your exhaust.

some people weld in a pipe that's the same length as the cat to replace it, some will actually shove out all the screen in the cat and stick a pipe in that, then reinstall the cat. there a a few other ways, cherry bombs I think can be used, if you get the right size.

other people, like myself, replace the cat with a high flow one, and take the 2 hp hit. try not to kill the planet while you're going 120 down the highway.

Re: Any Help?

On most boards it's considered rude to not search before asking a question. Specialy if the information you seak is spelled out in big bold letters at the top of the forum.

I know of som boards that will ban people on the spot for not searching. Although that may be a bit harsh.

Read around a bit, you'll find that we are all VERY willing to help as long as you are willing to do your part.
