Re: Spark Plugs

Yep. The majority of them you will have to get from the underside. Still a PITA.

Re: Spark Plugs

Changing the plugs is a PITA. I had to do it right after I got the car. Got about half of them from up top and the rest from underneath.....many scraped knuckles later. A jointed extension makes some of them alot easier. Now that I've got all the emmissions/air pump out of the engine bay they're almost all accessable from the top.

Re: Spark Plugs

A simple plug change can be a daunting task but with time you will perfect it. A little combo of top to bottom will get the job done. Fear not, mechanics across the county do this every day successfully for a living. A plug wrench bought off of ebay ($9 to your door) and or made from an old 5/8” socket is worth its weight in gold.

Re: Spark Plugs

I can do it 10 minutes as long as I have my home made plug sockets. I've got some with the side cut out, some with the rubber tube inside some without and others that have been shortend so that the ceramic pokes through the back. This is usefull for areas where there is no room behind the plug but you can get an open end in from the side. Also do your self a favor and put a small dab of anti-sieze on the threads, just make sure you don't get it all over the tip as it is metalic and can cause a misfire if you really goop it up.
