Re: fuel injectors and intake?
if your going to swap your intake you might as well switch to TPI. WAY better than TBI for performance. Im sure you could get a complete TPI set up for realy cheap.

Painless wiring makes an adapter plate for using a regular bore holley manifold with your factory throttle body so that could open up some options for you.

You need to post in the TBI forum. This fourm is for posting opinions of parts you've already bought.
Edelbrock makes a decent TBI intake manifold. Pair that with a Holley 670 cfm throttle body. See the "Ultimate TBI mods" tech articles.

Re: fuel injectors and intake?
Now for some TBI specific tech.......TPI is NOT light years better than TBI. In fact it's cheaper to make power with TBI than with TPI. In stock form you can make the same if not a few more HP up top with TBI and only give up about 15-20 ft/lb of torque in a very narrow power band down low.
The "best" intake and TB setup simply depends on what you are doing with the car. Most likely you have a street car and just want to make more power. The performer RPM has proven itself as one of the best all around intakes for carb applications and will work great with your TBI and adapter plate. Only problem is that's it darn hard to get it to fit under the stock hood. After the RPM it's a toss up between the regular performer and a low rise single plane like weiand makes.
The only upgrade over your stock TB is the big block version, holley also sells a version commonly refered to as the (670 cfm) version. Both have 2" throttle bores, but the GM version usually has much bigger injectors (around 80 lb/hr). Keep in mind that changing the TB or injectors will most likely require you to retune the ECM to account for the changes. TBI or any speed density styel fuel injection system requires retuning for any modifications that move more air.

Hey Kev, I don't come into every TPI circle jerk over on your board with a smart a$$ comment.....so don't come in here with your attitude.
In other words.....add some tech or get out.

holly makes an adapter plate as well for a carbed intake, and heres another site
http://www.cfm-tech.com/catalog/gm_t...5_products.htm
http://www.tdperformance.com/transdapt.html
a friend and i were just dicusing how to inprove his tbi suburbun my thoughts were 87+carbed intake w egr, a tbi adaptor, 454 stock tb, cold air intake , and 1.6 rockers but thats in a very heavy truck, and later full exaust and maybe a blower for show and go.

Re: fuel injectors and intake?
But then you posted something I felt was way off-base. Other than Fast355's factory freaks, I've never seen a TBI make as much power as a TPI at the wheels, and I've seen them give up a lot more than 20 lb/ft, across the power band, not just down low. But I'll leave you to your circle jerk, as you call it.
TBI does great for what it was designed, as a good MPG cruiser and daily driver. And TPI does great for what it was designed, a low RPM torque monster.

Re: fuel injectors and intake?
I did, in post #5 I recommended an intake and throttle body for him.

Re: fuel injectors and intake?
But Bmonte said "in stock form", not with free mods. TBI has less timing because it was designed as a cruiser to run on 87 octane.
I'll go you one better:
89 RS, 5-speed, headers, open element, free mods, 3" exhaust: 175 RWHP, 250 RWTQ.

Re: fuel injectors and intake?
Kevin, when I said "stock form" I'm talking about the induction system.....NOT THE WHOLE MOTOR. LO3's are junk they had the crappy heads and tiny cams along with restrictive exhaust. When I say TBI I'm talking about throttle body injection, not the boat anchors they were attached to.
Take a bone stock TPI system and TBI system and you can make the same if not more peak hp with TBI on a particular engine and only give up a bit of torque in a narrow power band. It's been proven.
