Mid range horsepower boost for cheap

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the site and camaros as well. I know a decent amount, but hteres a lot i dont know at the same time. Basically i've been looking at foils, spacers, and feeders for my 92 rs TBI. They seem cheap and most of them promise to free up some horsepower in the mid range, which is what i need. My car launches hard, but it loses power too fast in the higher ups.

Have you read the two "Ultimate TBI" tech articles? They list everything you need to get more power out of a TBI engine.

Believe it or not one of the first areas that should be addressed is the stock 2 1/4" single exhaust system and factory chokalitic converter. At a minimum I would suggest 1 5/8" primary shorty headers, 2 1/2" pre-Y pipes, single 3" highflow cat and a 3" cat-back exhaust. From there you can address the factory EPROM in the computer. Next a person needs to upgrade the factory valve springs, the factory cam maybe a whimp, but any engine that has more than 75K miles on it is not running as well as it could due to tired valve springs.

then you get to go through your initiation into the fraternal order of bloody knuckled thirdgen owners when you replace the factory fuel pump to support the new power

No, I think he meant that he didnt want to take the rear end apart to put a walboro in or something, after upgrading the springs, cam, or prom chip.

Re: Mid range horsepower boost for cheap

yea could go either way. torn between wanting him to know what he's talking about and saying it a confusing way, or getting a small laugh out of the idea of someone replacing rear springs to fix the valve train . i really hope he didn't put a stock pump in, even new it isn't really,, suitable.

Re: Mid range horsepower boost for cheap

I did put a stock one in. I tried putting a high perf. one in, but it had too much power. burst the system and fooded the engine. Hence im running on a stock pump. and yes, i did mean taking the rear end apart to repace the pump. Im not a big enough idiot to confuse vave springs with rear end springs.

Re: Mid range horsepower boost for cheap

i didn't mean anything by it, hope you didn't take offence. you might want to check out your fuel pressure regualtor on the back of the tb, might have a problem there. in the process you could make it adjustable which is cheap, and has the potential of adding some power

Re: Mid range horsepower boost for cheap

I recently upgraded to a lt1 cam and it ads decent power in midrange. I think next step will be adjusting the shift points at slightly higer rpms to use that power.

Re: Mid range horsepower boost for cheap

the more air you getin to and out of the engine the more power you will make thru out the entire rpm range, focus on your air inlet system and your exhasut system.
