ZZ4 cam and intake 305 tbi
would a zz4 cam and intake on a 305 tbi engine with a set of 350 swril port heads with a little port work done to them be a good idea? Also with the correct compute tune. Im just modding the 305 for now....i have a light weight 350 in the works but thats later down the road. Thanks

The 350 swirl port heads will really drop your CR. They also may not handle the ZZ4's lift, not to mention that the valve springs are junk. Better idea for cheap heads is to work over a set of '416 or '081 heads.

Re: ZZ4 cam and intake 305 tbi
I would definatly change the valve springs on the swirl port heads before i used them. What size of combustion chambers do they have? Im guessing 64cc but my next question is what is the combustion chamber size on the 305 heads that im currently running then? If anything I would like to up the compression ratio to 10 to 1 without changing pistions, just in head work. I know that the swirl port heads give great power from idle to app. 4k because of the swirl but what about a set of 305 vortec heads? The cr should stay the same as is now but would my torque curve be gone down low? Im thinking so because of the cam.
What im trying to do here is basically just change to a better flowing gm head, aftermarket intake with the ZZ4 cam and computer tune and have around 275 ponies at the crank. I dont know this may be way out of line but im thinking with the right heads/cam combo a 305 is just 45ci shy of a 350, while a 350 is just 50ci shy of a 400 and can make just as good of power if not more. Im also running open long tube headers, open element air cleaner and ported tb with spacer.
Any help here is greatly appriciated and i know 350's are much better and like i said above, i have one in the works so im only looking for ways to make my 305 better with out having a bunch of money into it.
If anybody has a combo they would like to share or better ideas feel free to post, and thanks again

EBAY . check this out! Is this good?
SPECIAL CHEV 305 CYLINDER HEAD #416 & #450. Reconditioned.
Can heads be machined to increase compression? I thought so.
