cam Question

cam Question

i am looking at puting a lt1 hot cam in my stock 92 rs with a tbi 305 n a five speed donno gear ratio off the top of my head. i was wondering if this was a reasonable cam to use in a 305 n if it is what else will i have to upgrade????

The LT1 cam is a very popular choice and it can be worth 20hp or more with tuning. That's the catch, tuning is a necesary evil of playing with FI engines. TBI requires it for anything that adds power.

Some guys have gotten away with the LT1 cam and no tuning, but others couldn't even make it out of the driveway without stalling problems. All tuned up you won't be able to tell it's in there untill you smack the loud pedal.

i think u might of miss interpreted my question im wanting to put the lt1 hot cam in my car not a stock lt1 cam im pretty much thinking im going to have to chang the heads i was looking at puting a set of the world 305 torquer heads or a set of brodix race right heads on it undecided but the amount of money i have to work with at the time will prob decide for me., tbi to a 670, get a burnt chip n change the fuel pump to the iroc fuel pump but this is what im thinking so if ne one know something that wont work with my ideas please let me know this is the first tbi motor ive ever played with so this is why im asking all of u.

ive never heard of an LT1 hot cam. sure u dont mean the LT4 hot cam? either way, anything much bigger than a stock LT1 cam, you'll need head work for the added lift and a tune for it to run right.

You can use the LT1 Cam with the stock heads but you should use new valve springs.
