Car wont start in cold weather?
Car wont start in cold weather?
This is the 2nd time my tbi camaro hasnt started during cold night weather. When trying to start it, it just keeps cranking but it wont fire up. Any ideas on what I should check first?
Re: Car wont start in cold weather?
hey guys i read that sometimes its the coil, so i replaced the coil and it was fine for a few days. but today the car wouldnt start again once it got cold outside. i checked the openings in the throttle body and no fuel was being sent out. kept trying and finally fuel came out and it started. any ideas on what i should check now? maybe a fuel relay or the fuel pump itself?

im having almost the same problem.
its taking avery long time to start the car. its good when its warm but cold. it takes a long time. tho the engine is on its last few days of its life i think
maybe check the fuel filter. when was the last time you replaced it?
it could be clogged up like crazy.
its a really cheap part to replace. try that.
if it still seems the same. maybe check out the tbi, could be bad injectors.
fuel pump could also be a problem.
i would pick your self up a do it your self type books.
chilton or haydens book. i think thats there called.
anyways. maybe something simple as bad spark plugs?

Check the fuel pump relay. Also: at key-on, engine-off listen for the fuel pump. Should run for 2 seconds then stop. If not then either the ECM is bad (easy to fix actually), the wiring is bad, or the fuel pump relay is bad.
If the FP relay is bad, it is the oil pressure switch closing that is turning on the FP. That is why the long crank times. Takes a bit of cranking to build enough oil pressure to close the switch. In cold weather the engine cranks slower. For an even longer crank-to-start time.
