350 headers on 305 help

this might be a stupid question but if i took 350 TPI stock headers and bolted them on my LO3 would they flow a lot better than stock. i really can't afford new headers and somebody reccomended this to me andi thought i would ask you guys about waht ou thought about it. i don't need like new header performance but near that.

These cars didn't come from the factory with headers, they came with manifolds.

Re: 350 headers on 305 help

L98 manifolds would be an improvement on LO3s, maybe not enough to make it worth swapping. Neither would be nearly as good as headers.

Re: 350 headers on 305 help

Yes you can do that, but you will also need the y-pipe and cat setup, too. The TBI y-pipe will not bolt up to the TPI manifolds. Also, there are 305 TPI manifolds out there that are identical to what you have, so you dont want to swap on those. The best thing to find is a dual-cat setup from 89-92 TPI's. They came on both 305's and 350's. Otherwise, a single cat setup from a car with a 2.75" i-pipe, not a 2.25" i-pipe, will be what you want.

Re: 350 headers on 305 help

I have a 92 firebird with a lo3 and put a cheap 100 dollar set of headers and true dual exhaust with flowmaster 40 series also added two high flow cats. BESt thing ever to do to a F-body car. unleashed about 45 hp
