ive searched around i cant find out what kind of fuel mileage a tbi v8 camaro in a third gen gets. could anyone tell me a site or any info? thanks

that sounds about right, A friend of mine got 20mpg with a somewhat heavy foot. and thats mostly back road driving not alot of stop and go but alot of hills

 

damn thats a lot higher than i thought it would be. is the tpi that much more?

 

not really much different mileage alot depends on driving habits and how the car is tuned

 

My stock 88 LO3 with a 4 speed auto and 2:73 rear gear would get 25mpg overall. The trip from my parents house to the apartment I used to have in Houston was 225 miles and it would only use half a tank. The tank is only 15 gallons. I believe TPI is about the same but I'm not sure on that one.

my friends 86 iroc with a TPI gets 21mpg only in town he doesnt drive it highway that much. my 86 Iroc is a 310ci with a few mods, idk the milage yet as I just bought it but My guess is if its all highway it should get about 30mpg another friend of mine with a 88 trans am with TPI got that goin up to his school.

 

Actually TBI is supposed to be better for gas milage. The tuned-port motors are great for that torque feeling, but not the most fuel economical.

My car has the LO3 and a T5. I only get about 15-17 around town but I have a lead foot sometimes.

On the highway though, with the cruise at 70mph, I can usually average 27-32 mpg. 5th gear rocks!

 

from that it sounds like i want a 5 speed 87-92 camaro with either tbi or tpi. thanks guys. ill have one to race and one to drive/
