accesory brackets w/ headers ???
Ok i have put headers on a a few other camaros, but they were all early models and didnt keep the A/C or other crap, so didnt have a issue with them, but i want to actually put headers on my 89, they been sitting collecting dust and looking pretty, but i want to keep my A/C and all, the only thing removed is my smog pump, i was wondering if there was a way to fab a bolt extender or something so i can use the factory bracket, maybe a pic of how someone did theirs, or an aftermarket company that has them, on one of my installs i used the factory bolt with a bunch of washers to take up the slack on the alt bracket bolt but it looked cruddy, and i think was a shorter bolt than the one on my accesorys

Usualy header install kits include 2 short metal tubes that have the same function as the washers you used on your earlier intalls, just look better.
On one side the bracket is fixed on a bolt that you can reuse without washers since it has "2 forged bolts" in the middle(dont know how you call that).
I ordered a new set of stock bolts and used the "2 forged bolt" on the other side to. I had to chanfer the passenger side bracket a little because it was tuching the header and I did not want to sacrifie the coating.
If u still need pics I can e-mail you them.
Have fun.

Re: accesory brackets w/ headers ???
I fabbed up 2 thick metal collars- one for the A/C brace position and one for the Alt. brace position so I could keep using the factory double-sided studs that I swiped off the stock manifolds (the ones that occupied those bolt positions originally). I recall one collar was 1" long and the other was 1-1/4" long, but this was a few years ago so don't quote me on that. Obviously, these collars must be THICK wall pieces. A hole in the middle just big enough for the bolt to go through and probably 1/8" thick wall tubing around it. Both support brackets then hooked up just like stock and I never had a minute's problem with it after that.
This is not a very good picture, but if you blow it up and look closely you can see the alternator support bracket collar that I'm talking about:
