Im putting a 358 1970 Block in my Caprice and i need to know where the Knock sensor should go

 

Doesent it replace a certain freeze plug?

 

IDK thats what TBI chips guy told me.. but im not sure his exact words put it in the water jacket.....

SO the only way to do that without redrilling the block use the Freeze plug

 

It's not a freeze plug.

It goes in the pass side block drain hole.

All SBCs, from 55 up, have that hole. Before there was the necessity for a knock sensor, there was usually a pipe plug in it.

Take the pipe plug out of your block and put the KS there instead. Don't forget to put a bit of sealer on the threads, and don't over-torque it, as that makes it SUPER sensitive. Use the Loctite/Permatex "automotive pipe thread sealer with Teflon" and about 12-15 ft-lbs.

 

 

If you using block hugger headers you won't be able to install it in the drain. I need to find somewhere to install mine. I'll probably re-thread the hole above the oil filter to NPT.

 

I wish i had headers Im broke as a Joke.... reusing the stock Manifolds for now till my money gets right......
