RPM jolt, missing?

so for awhile i have had a slight "miss" maybe 10-15 RPM jolt on the Tach on deceleration. So i knew i had some moisture in the dizzy so i took it all apart, cleaned it and sprayed some wirer dryer on it to keep the moisture out.

Well start it up and it got worse. Even backfired twice bad. Figured it was the wire dry. Drove it awhile and it calmed down but the "miss" is still there.

Cap and rotor only six months old and look good. Wires new and high quality. What else could it be? I know sometimes it has no upper rpm power (for what engine it is).

What is it? Module (but then i would get nothing)
Fuel pump?
Fuel filter?
But why at exactly 3200 rpm and not above or below?

Anyone have any idea?

Re: RPM jolt, missing?

When you took it apart and cleaned it, did you remove the module? You HAVE to make sure the dialectric grease is on the metal backing plate on the module, and that the screws that hold it in place are tight. That is it's ground.

Also, you wouldn't happen to have another distributor to try, would you? Maybe a freinds? It couldn't hurt to check. Make sure your timing is set right too. Never really had a problem like that, but hopefully you can fix it! That would annoy me.

Re: RPM jolt, missing?

well i started it in the dead of night b/c i knew it had to be something simple i was missing. Unplugger the hood light and saw an arch. Belive it or not it was between the AC delete pulley and the bolt for it.

So now i get to find out which wire is bad and why my newer 8mm wires went bad. Think i might just wrap them with a heat sheiuld or something to keep the rubbing down.

at least i found the problem!!!

thanks for the help
