Re: which heads out of these two

I'm currently running a set of the bow ties on my setup and I love em'. I'm using them with 10.8:1 cr and I ran them right out of the box initially. Last year I pulled them and had some additional porting and blending done and noticed a little more mid range. If your CR supports the lager valve, I'm a big supporter of more is better in this department.

if i have the cr to support them? im running 416's 305 tpi heads. I would have assumed going to these heads i would actually lower my cr.

Out of those two options, without a doubt go with the bowtie heads. Even if you have to machine it down to up your compression ratio, it would be worth it. The bowties are actualy pretty darn good heads, as GM Iron heads go.

Re: which heads out of these two

Yes, you are correct...going to a larger displacement head would lower your compression ratio. There's a balance between increasing air flow and having the proper cr to support the increase in flow. As the other member stated I would go with the ci bow ties. If you have them milled some prior to installing them you would see a low end increase due to the milling increasing your cr. Thats what I would do anyways.
