Burn Out Contest

Okay I know this is off subject, but I don't really see a place to put this and my car is a TBI. If ya'll want to know it's a 305, 5 speed, pretty sure 3.08's, and a G80. But I wanted to show off my burn out cause I thought it was really cool. Honestly I didn't think it would do that well. Anyway here is a video.

Re: Burn Out Contest

Thanks!,
I just kinda wanted to show off, I thought it was awsome.
I think the anouncer was funny too.

By the way same car as my sig, but 305, 5 speed, I think 3.08's (not sure) and a G80.

I still have a sore throat too.

Re: Burn Out Contest

This is just my opinion, but I think a lot of these car will do a burn out like this. I saw one last year at that track that did about the same.
I will say though that mine does have a G80, but other then that. It's a 305.
Could run a lot better too. (haven't gotten that far yet)
But all in all, if you can roll both tires, and it also depends on the tires some, you can do a very good burn out.

Other then headers, hand built exhaust, and rims my car is stock.

Haha, all it is a break stand, it doesn't really matter how much power you have. But it is fun. YOu need to find a place were you can get a little help from the wind to make it look good. And a cut-out in front of the tire helps blow the smoke back too.

Re: Burn Out Contest

Holy ****!!

My 305 has trouble spinning 1 tire! When I get posi, it will probably not be able to light both tires at the same time!

Yeah, it had been a little picky about running that day, I think I overheated it just a hair doing that stunt too.

You coming to cows this year? I'm sure we will have our big burn-out contest again this year, and it doesn't take much to talk me into going out there.

You did a good one too. I take it you have a posi/locker? I say that cause your rear turned. Mine didn't want to turn at all during that burn out, but doing one to race it did. Think that was just after I let off the brake though.
Yeah it is just a break stand.
Kinda wish you were there when I did mine. Would have made it more interesting.

Although I did turn the shoes in so the rear brakes wouldn't do anything.

And for slow_90firebird.
I lit them up in 1st gear really easy. (first time I tried was that night)
Also that burn out was in 2nd gear. It still lit them easily.
I will say I did rev it then let the clutch out a little quick, but it didn't seem like they had any trouble turning over. I am going to see how 3rd goes the next time. (faster the tires spin the more smoke you get)

Re: Burn Out Contest

Yeah, I have an Eaton Posi in mine. Third gear really works on the tires, it gets them HOT, I found that really racked up in 2nd gear, you get a ton of smoke, going into 3rd or 4th, only gets you so much more. Although if you can work it, and wag the back end on each shift, it looks really cool. I have a video of one of the guys in our club going through all 4 gears, and he gets off the brakes, and lets it jump and slide sideways on each shift.

Re: Burn Out Contest

If you are still one tire frying, no reason to go beyond 2nd gear. Remeber, with an open diff, you wheel speed is twice the indicated speed. So if your speedo is reading 50mph, the wheel that is turning, is turning at the speed it would be at 100mph on the road.
