injector noise
Happy 4th everybody!
I suddenly have a ticking noise coming from my injectors, at least it strongly seems to be coming from them. I took the aircleaner off and stuck my head down to listen and it definitely souds like its coming from the injectors. Sounds kind of like sticking a baseball card in bicycle spokes, or like one of those lawn sprinklers that pulses. My only thought is that I am hearing the injectors pulse. It is perfectly rythmic and steady.
Background: I have finally confirmed that when the previous owner hacked in the 350 he left the 305 computer. A friend had an old 305 performance chip from TBI chips. Thats still not a 350 chip, but neither is mine so I thought I'd try it out until I can get an EBL and retune it. The TBI chip made it run like crap, so I put the original right back in. Now I have the ticking sound, loud enough to hear slightly with the hood closed.
On the upside, i suddenly and inexplicably have more torque! Yesterday, I couldn't even chirp the tires without using the brake. Now I can get a chirp or two when I floor it.
I also gave it a full seafoam about 100 miles ago.
Any thougts on the noise?

Re: injector noise
The TBI injectors do make a ticking sound. However, it may be worth a check to see if any spark plug wires are arcing or not seated. Or if there is an small exhaust leak at the manifold to head surface. They too will make a ticking sound.

Re: injector noise
I will check the plug wires. Thanks
I don't really know how to check for an exhaust leak, and I'm going to get headers in the next month or two, anyway. I guess I'll just live with it and see if it goes away when I put the headers on.

Re: injector noise
My stock injectors make a noise. You really cant hear it while driving, but if you have the hood open and the air cleaner off, it is noticible more.
