Recommended coil for 92 bird 305 tbi?
I am looking to get a better than stock coil for my 92 bird. I changed the plugs last spring (NGK Iridiums) and changed the distributor cap and rotor button last year as well. This year I changed the wires (Mallory 8mm high perf) Any recommended coil? I was looking at this one: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=ACC-140011&N=700+4294924927+4294908153+4294907958+4294840138+400020+115&autoview=sku

Re: Recommended coil for 92 bird 305 tbi?
all i konw is when i first put my motor in my car about 2 months in i changed the coil to a MSD stock replacement type coil, the cap, rotor, plugs, wires were all new. and i had coil meltdown in 15 mins. the connections were all good. im thinking it had to much free flow for the stock ignition system to take so it backed up into the coil making it hot and melted it down. Ive never had much luck with any aftermarket coils besides the mallory promaster i have in my charger.

Your stock coil is just fine. Unless you have reason to believe that it is bad, keep it and save the $50 for something else.

I waited until my stocker went out and bought an MSD GM Blaster. It just plugs into the factory connections. Seems like it helps combustion somewhat, but that could also have been my OEM piece getting weak over time.

I actually want a better than factory coil, I have mallory wires in my car already so I decided to maybe get a mallory coil.
