By breather do you mean air cleaner? You can, if you don't mind sucking in air heated by the engine.

Re: New to the boards and a quick question about my tbi
I just did this 2 weeks ago. It did give me a little crisper throttle response and it definitely gave me better top end. The 4000rpm and up zone where it wasn't getting enough air before revs a lot freer and more quickly now, on up to 5500.
I did feel like I lost a tiny bit of low end torque, just off idle, but it comes back quick. My guess is that although the higher rpms were starved for air with the stock air cleaner, the 1000-2500 zone had adequate coolairflow, which is now replaced with hot air.
Overall though I am happy with it. the car is faster overall and you can get the low end back. If you do any more mods you will need that extra airflow anyway, hot or not.
I used the Jegs house brand 14' chrome open element. It is 34.99 and comes with a K&N stlyle filter so I have no clue why some people are paying $70 bucks for other brands. It also opened my underhood space up a little which is nice.

you'll need to do a little more then heads and a cam you need to get into tuning if you dont then i would advise you to not do more then full exhaust and ultimate tbi mods imo
----------
ya i beleve the 305 heads are 58cc and the 350 heads depending on what ones they are are 64cc
