What next for my LO3?

I have Hedman Headers, Random Tech 3" exhaust, 160 thermo, fan switch, Poly tran mount, TPI fuel pump and am running the 1/4 mile at 16.04 @ 84.59mph. What should I do next? I'm not real happy with my 1/4 time but I improved .4 over stock.

Re: What next for my LO3?

a 3.42 gear would be your best power gear but 3.23 is a good gear too so i would say your set on that end. I would say lt1 cam is next or invest in some tuning stuff, these cars really wake up after a good tune not to mention you can squeeze some good mileage out of them as well.

By a good tune I assume you mean getting a chip burned? Thanks

Re: What next for my LO3?

well 3.23s dropped me down a bit i think it was 4 tenths but really it was the adding posi that really help my times go down

are you still useing the stock aircleaner? or running open element
also mod your fpr to be adjustible and bump it up a little

mine ran best with 16 psi fp and timing @ 4 advanced

Yeah, I've been wanting to go open element. I'd like to get comfortable with doing the timing but even after reading articles I think I will need someone to hold my hand through it haha

Re: What next for my LO3?

timing is so simple just get a timing light and distributor wrench
and you turn it to adjust timing

Re: What next for my LO3?

After doing some research I thought a changing a cam was a cheap but time consuming mod, but after adding it up its like 200-300 before shipping and text.

What about the spring ($60) timing chain ($50) and gaskets galore ($50-80)

I plan on adding more to it but there you go. Plus all the other stickies at the top of the board.
Plus try pulling some weight out of the car. BELIEVE me it helps. My car weighs 2900 pounds without me and a half a tank of gas. Even now my car pulls quite nicely.

Re: What next for my LO3?

I think I may make doing the LT1 cam my winter project, along with replacing both my fenders, fixing my ground effects and repainting my headers and rear bumper.

Ah.. so much work to be done.

On another note I found a guy selling a LO5 engine for under $400 locally, but I was reading posts the other day that taking the LO5 route isn't a good idea now for a daily driver.

Re: What next for my LO3?

Whats wrong with the L05 in a daily driver? Its an extremely mild engine just like the L03. For 400$ as long as it runs with no major problems, id jump on it, get that, a nice cam, some good heads. And you can very easily get into the 13sec range.
