I have a 358 with EBL Im runing WUD and notice nothing outta the ordinary

BUT

It wont rev over 4300rpm in park, can barely pull up a hill at WOT, Smokes BADLY,

What should I do, my dad says its a fuel issue, Im about to go and put a new filter on in a few minutes.

Any idea, ive read about the EGR and CCP being a problem that could cause this,

but it was so sudden, just started yesterday.

I think the smoke issue was actually oil leakage getting on the exhaust and burning off, every bolt on the valve cover was loose, I got about 2-4 turns out of all the,

 

Check fuel pressure, Fuel filter and fuel pump.

 

How do I go about the Fuel pressure, I have a fuel filter so I can put it on hopefully tommorow, as for the fuel pump EBL says its geting the voltage so.......How do I check it out futher?

 

Get yourself a fuel pressure checker for TBI from Autozone or wherever you go. It comes with a gauge and an in-line schrader valve fitting that you can install where the fuel lines go from hard-body lines to rubber in the front driver side corner of the engine bay. Should be between 10 and 13 if your pump is good when you do a key-on prime.

Always remember there is a chance that it will read good at idle but drop under load.

 

I have been look around for an adaptor for my fuel tester to check the fuel pressure on my 91 305 tbi and I cant seem to find one . Do you have a brand and or part number of the checker your posting of , cause I sure would love to have one!thanks!(I have the very same problem )

 

What color smaoke? How is the idle? This might sound real dumb but back when I still had fuel injection the coolant temp sensor in the intake had a bad wire leading to it. Might have been a break in it but you could barely move it and the car would die it would run ok then smoke stumble and youd have to floor it to even go. wiggled a wire after chasing the prob and sure enough the single prob.

 

how did it start doin this? was it a sudden thing or was it just getting worse?

 

LOL naw its not that, but I know exactly what your talking about EBL said It was 32 degrees in the motor, when I couldnt even put my hand on the intake becuase it was well HOTTTTTTTTT.

I had to replace the sensor, so thats fine, (I wish it was that)

But the smoke is white, I belive it was Oil,

which gets me to this.

I think I had a Massive Intake leak, Stock L03 intake ontop a Gen1 motor, wasnt sealing up to well.

It was slow ongoing thing, I noticed a couple times, then it went away, then came back, then it was VERRRRRRRRYYYYYYY SUDDEN then im at the point where it didnt want to run at all.

Idles fine doesnt seem out of the norm for idle

 

hmm, gray smoke plus no power usually means blown motor, happened to one of my friends. maybe drain the oil and check for metal.

 

Whats going to be blown?


I put an EDIT in a long time ago, the oil was due to the OIL buring off the exhaust.

 

well is it still blowin a ton of smoke out the exhaust? if it is that means piston rings are gone which means pistin rings or worse are gone and no power means its not runnin off all cylinders so something serious is not right. but im not sayin it def is that... just sumthin to check out.

 

Yeah but its not, theres oil under the car, oil puddle everywhere, Oil on the frame. Its dripping on the exhaust and only smokes when Im going up a hill
(since the oil is getting on the exhaust)


So would a Leaking intake cause all this too? SUcking a bunch of air?

 

i wouldnt think so, spray wd-40 around where you think its leaking and if the rpm's go up, you have a leak.

 

Its kinda late now, lol, We already took the intake off.
