Paralelle port aldl cable

Is there any issues with using a paralell port reather than a serial port for your aldl cable? sorry for the spelling.

I have never heard of that being done. Why?

Currently I use a serial to usb adapter to datalog(EBL).

I use a PCMIA card to create a PARALLEL port as my Prominator flash to upload bin needs a P Port.

My very old lappys had parallel port and serial. New lappy has PCMIA and USB.
