1993 Caprice Lo5 TBI

The engine is shot in my 93 9c1. Ive got 2000 to spend on an engine or rebuild. I found a brand new crate 355 on craigslist im thinking about purchasing for 2000, but im scared that the computer in my car might not like that much. Anyone have any recommendations? Here is the engine and specs.

Saying the computer "won't like it too much" is an understatement. That engine won't even be remotely drivable in your car without extensive work and modding. For starters, you'd need an aftermarket high volume in-tank fuel pump, vacuum referenced fuel pressure regulator, the biggest TBI unit you can get your hands on, probably 90#/hr big block 454 injectors, extensive tuning and chip work, large free flowing exhaust, and lots more that I've forgotten to mention. You could probably make it work, but if it were me, and this car is a street car, I'd look for something a bit more mild.

Looking for something milder is something I am willing to do but a brand new engine for $2000 sounds great and I already have 2.5 catback true duals, and everything that you've mentioned so far doesn't seem that bad besides extensive tuning and chip work. Also besides the above mentioned it would be a simple pull and drop swap or am incorrect?

It should bolt right in. I'm not familiar with those heads though, will they have accessory bolt boles? Are they 87+ centerbolts or perimeter bolts?

I didn't want to make it seem impossible, because I don't think it is. The chipwork isn't that bad, I learned it on my LO5 and now I can tune for whatever heads and cam I please. This website it resource enough to do what you are looking to do. I suggest you start searching the archives on the TBI board as well as the DIY-PROM board and start soaking up information regarding high-performance TBI.
