Ive been trying to adjust my NEW IAC valve and have had no success in doing it like the book/web link specifies.
It says to adjust idle speed to 450rpm.....this is what is not working.
when i do this then reconnect the IAC and attempt to start the car it wont start...just turns.
i am running a small cam-comp cams 08-500-8 cam.
could i be off on something??
the reason why i even started trying to adjust IAC is because after running on street at wide open throttle and coming to a stop, motor will idle around 500 and move up and down until it goes up to 1000. kind of feels like it
wants to die during that time.
thanks in advance guys.

The ECM needs tuning, bad. That's the problem, not the IAC. While that is a small cam, it's still much bigger than the stock cam. Put a timing light on it and try advancing the timing a little, that may band-aid the situation, but you need to read the stickies about tuning asap.

i have read the one about tuning with o2 sensor. is that the one that you are talking about? if not could you tell me which one i need to read.

This if you whant to keep your slow limited ECM.

Or better and easyer if you upgrade your ECM to a EBL flash.

And there are plenty other treads.

ok. it makes sense that i would need to up the ecm i thought that because it was a small cam i would not have to get the ecm messed with. if i would have known this before i would have invested into gears, trans and heads. not that i wont now but, i would have had more fun with those mods instead of a cam. thanks for your replies guys. if anyone out there has installed a cam and did not have to up the ecm please let me know what you did.
First thing is to secure a laptop. Download winALDL or TunerproRT. Buy or build a ALDL cable. Read stickies on DIY-prom regarding datalogging. Then datalog. You will be using your current NB02 sensor to provide feedbak to your ECM. That will give you BLM data. BLM data will tell you what fuel cells need to be addressed. That will get you started. Other areas to be addressed are AE aka pumpshot PE aka WOT.

thanks for the advice im probably going to use pcmforless to customize my first chip then i will go from there and start datalogging to fine tune it along with more mods. that sounds good right??Originally Posted by Ronny

You wont like the answer from many of us. DIY tuners are just that. We do it ourself and make it the best it can be based on our level of competence. Mail order tunes are "ballpark" tunes and those tunes are not optimal. Sometimes they just suck. Sometimes you can get lucky. Even with emailing datalogs back and forth it just does not work as well as you would like. I cant imagine enduring that level of frustration. Check out TBI sticky "come in for free tune". good reading.

I really suggest to get an EBL flash in first place for someone that is going to continnue upgrading and modding the engine.
If you get an ALDL cable and everithing you need to tune the chips, the EBL isent much more expensive. Thaking into accout the time spent in tuning the EBL is a must.
