Anybody order one of these new crossfire intake manifolds from "Dynamic crossfire solutions"? They say the intake alone will give you 33hp and 16 lb/ft of torque at the rear wheels with the timing set at 9 degrees.

What other crossfire mods to do I have a 84 corvette and thought this is the place to get good advice on my engine. The corvette forums only talk about car polish and wheel cleaners and battery tenders.

 

Headers and full exhaust. The exhaust on these cars was extremely restrictive.

I understand they will produce the Renegade once sufficient orders/deposits are received. Exterior photos look pretty good. Dont think the specifics of internal design are yet available to public. I think the XRam is out of production? Other than the Offy and Edel Sy-1 there are not many options. Not much room under that hood you know.

 

I ordered a renegade intake and they sent me pictures of the inside, it looks really good. The runners taper from the inlet to the outlet like a gradual funnel, it looks like it will grab as much air and fuel and get it to the head in a hurry. They asked not to post the pics until they post them on their web site. It will run all stock equipmentincluding the EGR if needed.

 

Years back Ken did a post of the flow specs of the stock CF vs Extrude Honed(check their site) and the XRam. Those tests I believe were done without the TB pods. Would be nice to see how this manifold compares. I guess a moot point if the heads/cam are not up to the task. search for those comparisions on CFinject.com.

all the welding and porting i did to my stock manifold

I have installed my renegade intake manifold. I am getting a 0-60 of 5.5 to 5.7 seconds and a best 1/4 mile time of 14.0 with lots of wheel spin and when it shifts into 2nd gear it spins the tires. The top end is dramatically improved, it wants to rev passed 5000 rpm now. I shift it into second at about 5300 rpm. A stock 84 vette will do the 1/4 in 15.3 so it is a dramatic impovement. My timing is at 12 and my fuel pressure is cranked up to 15 psi.

how did you remove your smog system

 

Simple, remove the pump, the lines, plug the air lines into the manifold (remove shrader valve and use an npt cap) Very easy.

 

If I remove my EGR and diverter valve will the car act up? I live in a cold and muggy climate

 

no, I live in a crappy climate too and back in the days when I still had a cfi I never had a prob

 

I know this is old but i have a cfi camaro and i like the renegade over stock and im sure it helps these motors but my question is are these intakes more for the 350 motors then my 305? Like to still get the low end punch and still get more upper

production was stalled for a while last year,i hear it is

You need to be on waiting list. I dont believe the second run is complete. It may be a while. go to web site for weekly updates on production date. they will post on crossfire forum updates as well

 

Are there any advantages to deleting the EGR on a CFI?

 

Cosmetic looks and lack of maintenance. If you do so you need tp remove EGR in .bin as it adds timing during cycle.

 

Talked to them late last week - they expect first batch out in about 6 weeks. They signed-up with a foundry and ready to move forward. On 5/9 cast tooling has been received and foundry may have a pour done next week.

It looks like those critters (EGR Control Solenoid) have been discontinued for while. Even SMP catalog does not list them.

What to do??? Improvise - try and see if 87- 92 car or truck TBI EGR solenoid would work. That will depend if your '83 EGR valve is a positive or a negative back pressure unit. The '82 Crossfire intake that I have came equipped with 17063994 EGR valve. I am missing EGR Control Solenoid - so I am in the same boat with you. However, SMP catalog lists replacement EGV677 EGR valve as a positive back pressure valve.

Working backwards what other cars or trucks used positive back pressure EGR valve with control solenoid? Looks like late eighties TBI cars - trucks is worth looking into. During JY trip look for ACDelco 214-329 EGR Solenoid from 87-92 C/K trucks, Astro vans etc - this should be inexpensive including harness pig tail. Verify polarity before connecting EGR solenoid to your harness. It is worth a try.

Yes, looks DCS closed their doors according to their web site. Trying to make a business specializing on a handful of already scarce cars proved to be a long shot. FWIW, Eddy motorsports made Renegade intakes for DCS. They have it on their website here:

I just got one about 2 weeks ago from ECKLERS... it was July 4th weeked... there was a 20% off coupone and got it for allot less than Eddie but she was shipped from there... they never answered any of my Emails... and in another post I was concerned about the CNC of the thermo hole and the distro hole... both could be impoved... but they will work... I will be polishing my ports as there is some uneven to some of them... and would improve flow from what I have read... its a shame they did not go one step more and make a O ring seal or grove in the top plate... say to seal it with BLUE RTV, I can see that leaving in time as she's just a large flat plate that in time may distort from heating and cooling.... I compared to my ported intake and well at first she don't look all that better to me as far as the ports go... I feel I have the same size as the Renegade... but what is allot bette is the area were the ports are under the TBI's better room if you will... Also just the facts I have a X-ram and well if the Wieand can flow 1000cfm ported I can see how this would be be better that it... but as we all know it all depends on everything else being match correctly... as a ADDER either the ported stocker or this I am sure will give what she is rated at.... I didi a ported and 1.6 on a stocker only wipe the cam, then I did a cam and lifters went to large not much and pulled the studs out of the heads... then I tried to tape the heads what a joke on the 82 CF heads drilled fine, taped slowly on a drill press... and each one went fine... screwed in the studs.. ouch just about every one cracked.... I have 2 82 Crossfires... Twins... and can tell you block to block head to head is like two different casts... older better later just total SAND CAST JUNK.... both are original motors... Be carefll with what you add... as they say build the top and not the bottom on a old motor is risky... and same other way around new heads old bottom can be problamatic.... for the effort of a 85 fuel pump, 14-15psi, 1.6 rocker rollers and a ported or Renegade your gonna feel the difference.. I did mine on a 58k motor and it was well worth every penny... these cars are torqie to begin with.... it just made it more smoother, powerfull and allot better off idle.... How did make a CFI make 400 HP and is the renegade still available?

 

Nice to see the renegade still popular with the crossfire crowd I installed mine years ago now the crossfire is parked under a car cover for the last 3 years. I think in the spring I will insure it and get a 3.73 rear gear. See if I will get into the 13's.

What gets me is lots of cfi owners have the renegade but nobody seems to post anywhere on these forums. I will be focusing on my 85 vette this year it needs lots of little things fixed.

how much horsepower is it making at the rear wheels ?

 

I don't know because I have not had time to get it to the dyno. Plus, I havent had time to fiddle with the tune. Just been to busy on other projects. Even without tuning, engine feels more responsive at part throttle.

Prior to the Renegade it had an X-Ram intake and it made 240 RWHP, but still needed more WOT tuning.

Plan is to get to it this spring.

 

Hi guys, Tom here from DCS. I know this is a rather old thread, but I thought I'd set this post straight. This just isn't true. Nobody has bought anything from us in the way of rights to our manifold, the business or anything else. A foundry in CA has all our tooling and Eddie Motorsports does all our machining, marketing and shipping of the manifold after we removed our tooling from the foundry here in Arizona. The reason Eddie Motorsports, Ecklers, Summit Racing and a couple other places sells our manifold is because its called more exposure and sales.

Also, DCS may or may not come back. Maybe in a under a different name, who knows? We just have to work out a good figure that works out for the both Jim and I. Once that is done, the former company or a new one may be born. I have lots of projects that I have been working on and I now have much more time to do this stuff. I've also been working on a new website just in case. The manifold will be available as long as our tooling remains at the foundry, enjoy it while you can. The website is still up and running, but you can't buy anything from it and all we ever did was "park" the business for personal reasons and our main careers. Thank you all that have supported our venture and hope you enjoyed our products.
