advice L05 plans, please
I'm thinking about taking the 350 he have sitting in the shop (from a 95 3500- has the 810 heads) and having the block and heads checked (and assuming it checks out) camming it, porting/milling the heads, getting the Dynamic FI set-up, and putting it in the ole RS. I plan to get the LT4 hot cam kit with 1.6rr from Summit, Edelbrock TBI intake, a 454 TB, etc. Considering milling the heads or using a thinner gasket to bump up the compression ( I think they are 8.75:1) Would this combination make decent power? Are there any holes in the plan?

I've been thinking, and I'm not sure the heads would accept the lift from the hot cam without needing work. Anyone know if they would?

They definately need stronger springs, .050" offset retainers, and pinned studs to run .510" lift. I would not run the HotCam. The production LT4 cam will work better for what you are trying to do.

Re: advice L05 plans, please
I was thinking about getting the complete kit from Summit or Jegs. Comes with rockers, springs, locks, retainers, etc.
I guess I'll go with the LT4 cam, then. What valve springs should I look into? Would 1.6RR be beneficial considering their cost?

Re: advice L05 plans, please
I found these Manleys on ThunderRacing for $196
Product Listing:
131-221423-16 Manley Performance Valve Springs, SB Chevy, LS1/LT1/LT4/L98 Stock diameter (1.255) Single spring w/o damper, max lift .575"
I think these work well for my plans, but are there any springs in the needed lift range that will do the job but cost less?
Also, considering the characteristics of these heads (I saw Fast355's thread on his ported 193s, and if I'm not mistaken, they are a similar casting to the 810s), and for my tendancy to not rev the motor past ~5500, would a cam with more duration (not neccesarily a split pattern, just more duration) and around .500 lift with a tighter LSA would show a better power than the LT4? Maybe something like this Lunati:
LUN-54778LUN --- 206@ .469/ 215@ .489 (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1200-4500 RPM
Or this Crane:
CRN-1449571 --- 210@ .531/ 218@ .531 (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1000-5800
or this Accel:
ACC-74211 --- 211@ .499/ 219@ .525 (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1000-5800
