91 RS, few common issues need some definte answers

I picked up my first 91 RS a few days ago. its got a Auto 305 TBI setup. Ive been dealing with some issues since i got it.

The rad leaked once the car sat/turned off so we replaced that.

I did the open air element mod on the air cleaner to get rid of that stock b/s.

The butterflys inside the TB stick to the walls, sprayed some WD-40 in there to loosen them up and the spring. I have a high idle issue, i dont know where its sitting at cause the tach doesnt work, but ive been looking into it, and was told it may be the IAC, or throttle return spring (not likely). So im in the process of fixing that. Any suggestions would be helpful for this

The cluster is busted cause the tach doesnt work (has a mind of its own and crap), the oil pressure gauge doesnt work but theres an after market one hooked up and works. and I found out the gas gauge doesnt work very well either...

I just had it running in my driveway, kicked the a/c on, put it in reverse and then compressor broke, the volt gauge broke, the temp gauge shot up all of a sudden and i just filled it with gas and its now reading 3/4 tank. Thinking that the temp gauge might actually be accurate this time around i shut it down and i herd coolant bubbling... It was releasing pressure from the intake manifold between the head. Friend said it may be the thermostat so im going to replace that any other sugestions? im going to retorque the head bolts to make sure it didnt lift.

The AIR pump **** has been removed and one of the plugs came out of the header so im in the process of trying to hunt another one down but none of the auto stores or lowes has the correct thread pitch, and i cant figure it out. I need to get it repluged up asap. Does anyone know where i can find this stupid thing? I read that it may be a 1/4 NPT fitting but i dont know if it varies from the v6 to v8.

for any and all help. ive been doing plenty of reserach. we drove the car 4.5 hours home with no issues, so i want it back on the road.

The sticking could be the throttle shaft. rebushing time. Dangerous.

Iac you can cycle engine off to see if it is working at all.

ok so i fixed the high idle i believe, sprayed and cleaned the TPS and the IAC with brake cleaner.

the bolts for the intake manifold were a bit loose so we tightened that down.

there was no thermostat so i just resealed the water neck

found a bolt that i used to plug the exhaust leak up

I rewired the fans to a switch, cause they stopped coming on for what ever reason.

i just need to buy a new cluster, and hook up a water temp gauge.

I do have another situation ive been working on trying to fix. i have at least a inch of travel in my steering wheel before the tires turn. I replaced the steering box with a used one, and it helped in the steering of the car, but the slop in the wheel is still there. the rag joint arm looks like it could use replacing but i wouldn't think that would fix that problem. The car doesn't drive straight to save its life. i do need new tires, and it seems the toe is way out of adjustment so im going to get an alignment, but id like to be able to drive my car like a normal one, instead of correcting the steering every few feet.

so I installed and wired the water temp gauge up, everythings running smoother.

something having to deal with the cluster broke. none of the gauges worked, going to look into that tomorrow.

had 2 front tires put on, and an alignment done. It still wants to try and veer off the road. Nothing changed when i did that. going to look into replaceing the rag joint arm. anything else anyone can think of, which would cause the car to not want to drive straight, or the steering wheel to drive straight (have to keep correcting it left and right to drive straight)

You might get more responses on the steering question in a different sub-forum here on thirdgen. Not really a TBI question.

But...I would have thought this would have been a great question to ask the guy that did the alignment. What did he say? Could be slop in the tie rod ends, or slop where the where drag link connects to the pitman arm, maybe even control arm bushings.
