TBI problem

Ok, last night when I ran down the street, I started my camaro up and she started fine, nothing out of the ordinary. But when I pulled out of my driveway and started to go down the street, the RPM's were fluctuating. Not by much, only dropping about 500 RPMs and then snapping back in a split second, but it only did it for a minute and then went back to normal. I thought it might have jus been from the cold but then it was doin it again on the way to work today. This time it was a little worse, but then died down after a couple minutes. When I pulled into work I revved it up and it was doin it again. My dad seems to think the fuel filter might need changed or the pump itself might be goin bad, which seems logical enough, but i was wondering if anybody on here has had this problem?

Re: TBI problem

When I had my engine setup for TBI I had the same problem and it was the IAC. I not sure if that is your problem but I believe there is some threads on this site that explains how to test it. I attached a pic of the engine electronic arrangement for the TBI. Hope it helps.

Re: TBI problem

I had the same problem with my IAC module, i would trouble shoot that first before pulling a fuel pump. Fuel filter never hurts for less than $10 though so.

Not to stray from topic, but Fionnla, where did you get that image? I'm looking for one to do a TPI swap on my Trans Am and it would be extremely useful in the map that you have laid out. If you could PM me the details, that would be great. Thanks.

Hey 84redta: The boy of mine downloaded that off the Internet about 3 yrs ago and I don't remember where. It may have been off of Autozone's web site. I'll check with him to see if he remembers. Later.
Good Luck with your project.

Re: TBI problem

Well its not the fuel filter, so im gonna run a quick diagnostic on it to see if it pulls up any codes, and then from there im gonna start with the IAC and hopefully that fixes it

Re: TBI problem

That's great Carfreak614. Sometimes the problem is easy and not to expensive to fix. Now go beat up on some Mustang...Haha.
