305 CFI to Chevy 350
305 CFI to Chevy 350
okay guys. New here to thirdgen. Searched around, couldnt find much info on CFI. I guess thats my first question. My second question is the difficulty in swapping a chevy 350 to my 305 CFI 82 TA. Thanks for any of your guys help and time. Looking for some info and advice. Sorry if its the wrong section, dont mean to be a nuisance.

Re: 305 CFI to Chevy 350
real easy swap-if you retain the cfi,you will need '82-84
vette injectors and an'82 vette chip(for '83 models an
'84 vette chip is used)also better to use a 350 starter
motor if the swap engine does not have one.
I have 350 CFI in my car-lots of mods can be done to
raise the power output way above stock

so far i haven't got the chance to put my hands on one of those but i really like the way the CFI system works and looks
despite all the drivability or performance problems it may bear.. it's "cool fuel injection"
good luck with your 350 CFI. imho there are some vette (c4) forums that deal with CFI performance.

These should help you out! I have reman injectors and new sensors if you need them. The above sites should help you a lot.
Good luck!

Re: 305 CFI to Chevy 350
Hey, I just picked up my camaro I drove in high school (12 years later) and although it is much rougher than when I drove it, someone stuffed a 350 in it and could never get it to run right. The first thing I did was read up and find a place that would bush my TB's. While they were away I got a gasket/o-ring/diaphram rebuild kit off ebay, hit up pick-a-part and snagged some 350 injectors (have black and orange paint on top) from a conversion van, made a balancing board, modded my fuel pressure regulator so it is adjustable, fixed my fuel leaks, balanced the TB's, set idle, TPS and it runs great except I have low fuel pressure. (I have a TPI pump and pickup from a 90 T/A waiting to go in) I am still running the stock 305 chip so it will go A to B. I plan on converting to a newer ECM and tuning it properly. I can help you as much I know, but the cross-fire injection forum is a great place to learn about this injection system. I have been reading the DIY tuning board to learn that before I start to tinker. Good luck!
P.S.: Our older cars used the same knock sensors, ESC modules, and computers (82's are not compatable with the 83/84 vintage like was stated) for both the 305 and 350 cars.

The first best thing is to upgrade the ECM. Can either cut and splice '7747 style ECM harness connectors onto the current harness, use a HAM board, or replace the harness with a '7747 style harness.
The second best thing for a Cross fire is installing the same injectors in both TBIs and parallel plumbing the fuel.
For the parallel plumbing place block off plates on both TBIs in place of the FPR and accumulator. Place a Y block on the feed line and run it to both TBIs.
Take the two returns from the TBIs and run those to an external FPR. Then to the single return line back to the tank. Note that most EFI FPRs have multiple inlets, so no Y block required at this end.
What this does is to provide the same volume and pressure of fuel to each TBI as the other. Then using the same injectors in both the system is truly balanced for fuel delivery. The external regulator allows the fuel pressure to be increased for higher HP levels.
See DCS for block off plates and a HAM board. See my sig for the ECM upgrade.

over there,it seems to take a day after registering before
you have full access-i am over there too,zbomb82
most of the mods i did to mine were to the intake
manifold and a mild port job on the heads-made a huge
difference

Re: 305 CFI to Chevy 350
does anyone know how difficult it is to swap to a single throttle body setup from CFI or maybe to a carb setup. idk, im just thinking, cfi just seems like a pain to upgrade in performance and almost not worth it... what do you guys think?
Re: 305 CFI to Chevy 350
I run a Holley Projection TBI manifold with a 7.4L TB unit and 80 lb injectors. I chose that over a "ported" crossfire manifold. Be aware that DCS now offers a CF "style" replacement manifold as an alternative to porting the stock unit. Other options exist as well.
