Timing Help Please!!!!

So heres the story, I have a 92 camaro 305 5.0 tbi. I recently did a cam swap and Ive goten everything back together, I had it running for a bit but when I get the timing set and tighten down the distributor I shut the car off reconnect the est connector and try to strat the car again and it just sputters off. In order for me to get it reconnected i have to disconnect the est and the computer itself then start it and let it die. I then reconnect the computer and have to retime. I need help any ideas?

Re: Timing Help Please!!!!

I have tried 0* and my car will shut off and not idle period. The only spot where it actually idles for longer than 30 secs is like 3* advanced. Which is very weird. But thats no longer my issue seeing as how one of my new head gaskets has seemed to prematurely fail. So im just ripping the 305 out and popping in a 350 im going to start building into a 383.
