Re: Low 13s

You're probably going to need better heads to get to your goal.

You might make it. Best thing to do would be to try it out.

Re: Low 13s

Since fast corrected me I'll add to this. You could get there with some work, but it would be easier to use other heads. If your car is light enough and with some porting you could get there, but it will be a challenge. Thats kinda like putting a big cam in a stock L03 to get to low 14's. Possible, but not easy to accomplish.

My brothers 1980 C10 truck with a 305 is in the 14s with STOCK swirl port 350 heads on my old 312 shortblock. Crane 272H10 cam, Stock 810 swirl ports with spring upgrade, 1.6:1 full roller rockers, and long tube headers. Performer RPM Q-Jet and a tweaked Q-Jet.....TH-350 with a 2,600 stall and 3.42 gears. 28.5" tall tires on it. Ran a 9.39 @ 74 in the 1/8 in 100*F heat.

To echo what Fast said the heads aren't the issue. Refer to the head flow data sticky at the top of the forum. 193 heads and 187 heads (305 version) are capable of supporting more power than people think. It all comes down to the tune, often leading people to beleive that the heads are the weak link. Tuning is everything.
