l98 tbi
I have a l98 long block that I'm wanting to swap in keeping TBI and I'm wondering how this combo works. I've done searches and had no luck. Has anyone tried this or have any information about it? mpg? hp/torque? I plan on using 65lb injectors if I can get them for a good price. Any pointers would be great.
Thanks

Re: l98 tbi
Should be a fun engine, fuel delivery and tune will have to be adapted. Probably around 260rwhp, probably a little more if its a corvette L98.
65#/hr injectors will require around 20psi fuel pressure for 260rwhp.

Agreed. With the proper fueling and tune there is no reason why you won't make or exceed stock L98 power numbers. You won't be restircted by the TPI but it will all come down to your ability to tune. I cannot stress that enough. Bolting on TBI parts and making the engine work isn't the challenge. The tune will be, until you dig into it and get familiar with it. Fear not, it isn't that bad if you know how to use a computer and know general engine basics.

I wish it was a corvette l98 but its from a 1989 irocz. Tuning is where I will need help I was thinking about tbichips.com but im not so sure about mail in chips after the things Ive read on here. I would try to burn my own since it would be the same amount of money for the mail in chip but i don't think i would be able to do it, I hear it can take 500 burns to get it right. I'm good with computers so maybe i will try burning my own, I'm just worried i'll fry my tbi computer.
I was thinking of getting the edelbrock performer 3704 TBI intake. Should I go ahead and get a new cam along with this upgrade or should I keep the stock cam? Wondering if it worth the effort before I start this project.
Thanks

Re: l98 tbi
A cam upgrade would be a good idea and quick swap with the engine out.
LT1/LT4 cam (not hot) will require appropriate valve springs, fueling upgrades and tuning.
A good match compcam will probably require additional LT4 style valve spring retainers or machining and screw in studs.
Plug and play, this is the best available option to tune the TBI http://dynamicefi.com/
46-50mm bored 3704 would be decent, there lots of used ones around for modest $.
