88 firebird

i recently picked up an 88 firebird with a 305 tbi and a 5 speed for 800. it doesnt start up. just cranks and spits anybody know what could be causing this? need some input cause idk what could be wrong

Remove ur airfilter and see how ur injectors are flowing while ur cranking if they hardly spit any fuel then u might have a bad fuel pump or bad fuel preassure regulator, also check for spark, and since its an old car and still has original spark plugs and cables u should atleast replace those first before buying anything expensive. This TBIs are pretty basic so u should start ur troubleshooting by checking spark and fuel. Also if u got both of those ok then u should play with the distributor if the thing moved and its offtime then that might be causing those spits wich i think are backfires. Thats my advice, but w8 until someone with more knowledge answers im just a regular guy that just knows how to do the easy stuff hehehe.

Oh btw before u do anything u should atleast remove one spark plug and see what condition there are in, bad sparkplugs can be your problem and nothing else more expensive, it prolly has the original spark plugs.

see if it starts on starting fliud. but dont keep spraying it as you can bend a valve. good luck
