91 5sp 5.0 camaro... INJECTORS WONT FIRE!!! HELP

Hey everybody whats up? i have a 91 camaro RS and the injectors wont pulse any fuel at all.... i have already replaced the fuel pump and verified its pressure.... under the hood with the key in the ON position i can hear the fuel flowing into the TBI and past the FPR.... I cnt hear the injectors "CLICK" tho... i have a few questions about how to proceed... does anyone know what voltage is supposed to be in the injector harness while the car is turning over? or how many ohms threw each injector? and also if im not getting the right voltage threw the harness does that mean The ECM is bad? Thanks in advance

EDIT** I have found that my injectors call for 2 ohms of resistance... i checked them with a volt ohm meter and got 2 on both of them so it looks like the injectors r good.... any ideas????

ok guys i tested both leads on each injector and my diode is shinning on the fused side which are the red and white wires... but on the other wires (which r the ecm signal wires) i get no light while engine is turning over... so i take it the ECM is bad.... can anyone verify?

i'm not going to say this is you'r problem . but , i have an old p/u that has holley TBI . i had problems with spray , i removed them , sprayed down with carb cleaner . worked a little better , not perfect but better . i suspected a varnish build-up on the injectors . i then soaked them in a small can of parts/carb cleaner overnite . next day sprayed down with carb cleaner , lubed "O" rings , re-installed . gave a whole new life to my old p/u . ( she is semi-retired ) . it was a back yard fix that worked for me . i would say "DO NOT TRY BRAKE CLEAN" . anyway worked for me , try at you'r own risk . good luck .

Well im not getting any spray at all.... after replacing the ECM i suspected the VATS as it will cause all my symptoms.... no deal either way i bypass it i get spark but no fuel... now ive also heard the the ignition module sends a signal to fire the injectors.. is this true? if so how do i test the ignition module? and what else out there signals the injectors?

Re: 91 5sp 5.0 camaro... INJECTORS WONT FIRE!!! HELP

Alright so you have done the following:

Checked if the injectors are getting voltage?
Checked the fuses for the injectors?
Checked Fuel pressure and made sure its holding?
No leaks?
Taken apart the Injector pod and made everything looks ok?
Taken the protective harness plastic wrapping and made sure the Injector power cables have not been cut or burned or spliced?
Checked the connections of the Injectors to the ECM? (The wires leading to the ECM connectors.

I would check the fuses for the injectors since thats all that is left that you have not done. If Vats was the problem the car will not crank at all and the obvious Security light will be on. If all fails, give the injectors 12v and see what happends.

Yes, the distributor module has a function in firing the injectors.

Re: 91 5sp 5.0 camaro... INJECTORS WONT FIRE!!! HELP

I had a simular problem, got a Diagnostic Flow Chart for the vehicle and followed the chart. In my case it was a combination of a bad Ignition Control Module and a weak pickup coil. Replaced both and it got me back on the road.

well guys i have tried everything i can think of and have come up with nothing... the injectors will fire if i MAKE them fire by grounding the ECM signal side... i may have to go with a carb setup.... but if i do will a pre 86 intake work? like a 2101?

ya i think it will work but you won't be able to use your erg valve and you will have to get a different distributor.

Re: 91 5sp 5.0 camaro... INJECTORS WONT FIRE!!! HELP

check ecm grounds, the ecm grounds the injectors to fire them, if your getting twelve volts on the other side, then make sure there is continuity between the injector ground wires to the ecm, and all ecm grounds and block grounds. Yes, the Ignition module does work with the ecm to fire the injectors, because it will sense rpm from the pick up coilm send the signal to the ecm, which will then ground injectors.

Do you have spark?

Normally if there is spark the pickup is good, test it w/ohm meter, 800-1000ohm.

also the tach isnt working and it has an aftermarket tach in it and it is spliced into the existing wiring on the coil.... neither tach is working either... could this in some way be related to my issue?
