Re: installing new air cleaner open air

This is a Emission hose routing diagram for a 1988 to1992 5.0 ,TBI, Auto transmission,ONLY. I suggest you only pull off what is necessary for the Open Element install for now. I also suggest "at least" $25.00 Chilton's manual for your car. Believe it or not it makes for great late night reading.

Re: installing new air cleaner open air

Here in CA in order to pass a visual smog inspection any and all smog devises/components that came stock on my car must be in place and working. That includes the air intake system .I must remove the open air element and replace the stock unit every 2 years in order to pass the inspection. Thats why I say don't be in such a hurry to remove any thing more than what is necessary to install the open air element. That is "if" you are required to pass smog. Not only that but if I'm not mistaken it is not only a state regulation but is also a Federal issue.

Where is the problem? Reducing toxic emissions and making huge power is doable http://jalopnik.com/#!383974/2009-co...v8-hits-638-hp

Re: installing new air cleaner open air

convinced now man but still they have strange laws

i wanna do a test put open air on
see difference

put a cam in and stock air tubing see stock difference
then open air again with cam
and see the difference

maybe open air AND cam will work well with one another

got all my parts for the cam
cam
lifter
pushrods
spring
and now imma buy the open air cleaner
and start this test

Re: installing new air cleaner open air

ronusmcmma, what is the part number for your filter set up. Or where can I pick one up? It looks great. If I get a aftermarket hood I may just pick up on of those filters.
