Re: opinion on roller pushrods with tappet lifters

let me rephrase his question. can he reuse the stock pushrods from a L03 TBI which is og. roller engine. with a flat tappet cam and lifter set?

The push rods for a stock SBC roller cam are shorter then the ones used for a flat tappet cam.

I only post this cuz you said you got conflicting information.

It's not a matter of opinion rather a fact that you must use the longer pushrods intended for flat-tappets.

Now you have heard it from two who definitely know what's up.

I might also suggest that you avoid taking advice from those that might have said differently.

Re: opinion on roller pushrods with tappet lifters

Only way to know for sure is to get a pushrod length checker. It doesnt cost much and it will get you the proper length with no guess work.

Re: opinion on roller pushrods with tappet lifters

well if your getting rid of the roller lifters and installing regular flat tappet style. thier are retainers that go on the roller lifters that you do not need on the regular style. as well as the "spider" which is the metal piece that holds down the retainers for the roller lifters.

^^What he said, the lifter retainer becomes a moot point.

Re: opinion on roller pushrods with tappet lifters

well if you are changing the valve springs on the car. you need a leakdown tester kit. you pump compressed air into the cylinder to hold the valves up while you change the springs. otherwise the valves will drop and most likely the motor will have to come apart. you also need the on car valve spring compressor and remover.

Re: opinion on roller pushrods with tappet lifters

well you have to run self aligning unless you have guideplates which you dont. id prefer not to run aluminum bodied rockers on street engines. I prefer the comp cams steel rockers but they are nearly double the price of those proforms (i cant stand proform rockers)
