tbi 350 rocker arm play.
i was wondering if rocker arms are suppose to have play in them.i always thought they shouldn't but not 100% sure so i figured id ask.the heads have about 5 pounds of sludge on them to.i was wondering if i should pull em off or clean em on the truck.how hard would it be to take them off?she sounds throaty.good throttle response.but wont turn on dry road.

not supposed to be any slack in them - search "valve lash" and you'll see how to tighten

It is ok for rocker arms to have a little movement when the engine is not running and the valve is in the closed position - the slack is taken up by hydraulic pressure only when the engine is running. You shouldn't be able to move the arms off the valve stem though.
