Re: swap to carb

TRUTHFULLY. i have went from tbi to carb. got tired of tuning the carb and playing with timing to keep it right. plus fuel mileage dropped way off. then went back to tbi and will never look back from tbi. i miss some of the top end but the rest of the time im way more impressed with the f.i.

Re: swap to carb

Yeah. I think if it was a track only car. And you really didnt wanna tune. you can get by with a carburetor. but fuel injection is so much more practical.

Re: swap to carb

i dont want to have to deal with tuning the computers to work with heads and a cam, so far all i have is headers and an open element and the motor runs like s@!# now so i figured witha carb i wouldnt have to deal with the computers

Re: swap to carb

I agree - headers and open element won't affect the TBI computer, so you have another issue at hand. What did you do with the IAT sensor when swapped to open element?

But if you want to swap to carb, you'll need:

carb (600cfm)
intake (Performer RPM or Air Gap RPM are most used)
fuel pressure regulator (Mallory 4309)
vacuum advanced distributor

Depending on your trading/used parts location abilities, about $600 or so for the above brand new parts.

If it runs "like s@!#" now, good luck with your carb swap.
