Wins/Losses
I know there have been a few other threads about this, but who doesn't love to brag?
Tell us your wins and losses in your third gen. 305 tbi, tell us some mods you put on it too if you want
My wins: Mazda mx5, they only come in 1.8 or 2.slow 4 cylinder engines haha that middle aged women had no chance
200x Honda civic, it was an up hill race but I only won because his lane had to merge into mine so I stayed right up next to him so he had to slow down so he could merge
1996 4.6l v8 mustang gt, a truck pulled in front of him, that's the only reason I won
Plenty of camarys have been killed
An old Nissan truck

Oh and my mods are only a 14x3 edelbrock open element air cleaner and a 2 chambered thrush welded muffler, I have new suspension and struts and ball joints and all of that, but that wouldn't give me much help

I mean, lets be honest, the old lady did not even try, yet you struggled. the civic had to slow down so you could win, the truck beat the Mustang for you and the Nissan truck was probably running on 3 of 4 cylinders.
Not much racing going on on this side of the pond.
I beat a Porsche 944 S2 stoplight to stoplight by 2-3 car lengths. He was trying, didn't miss a gear, the car looked in better shape then mine and my tires are over 7 years old stockers but I'm too cheap to replace them as long as they still have profile on them.
Morale of the story, these cars are not slow. They are not fast either.

I know haha not too many people have fast cars around here, I usuaally won't race unless I know I'll win
And when did I ever say I struggled against that lady? I was up to the next stop light before she was even half way there, and she wasn't old, she was probably about 30-35

I just like to rev my engine at other cars at stop lights, then when the light turns green I drive normal and let them go screaming down the road and look like they're just a jackass, not racing anyone.

Haha other people usually rev there engines at me then the speed down the road like an idiot haha and I only street race when those dumbass people try to race me and for some reason think they can win, but I'm only 16 so I don't push it too hard and I don't race at the tracks

Haha other people rev there engines at me all of the time then look dumb when they start racing by themselves haha I only race when people think they have fast cars and think they can beat me, but then I show them that camaros are the best, I don't race much because im only 16 and have never raced at a track either so I don't get to pick what I race against

Yeah. I can tell your young. (nothing wrong with being young). What im saying is. Dont even waste your gas racing the cars you listed. I mean race a mustang, sports cars etc. But cmon no one wants to hear about you beating a camry or whatnot. Have fun though. But if your not pushing the pedal to the floor your saving money

Re: Wins/Losses
Being young with your favorite car is one of the best things ever, I would never push my car to it's limits, I love it too much, and like I said, I only race the stupid people who think they are cool in their stupid cars, and it's usually those jackass people who weave in and out of traffic and drive so badly, so that usually makes me a little angry, thats why I end up racing them, notice how I didn't list any loses? It's because I don't race every car for no reason, just the people that I want to make look stupid

Some of the newer civics pack some power, I wouldn't drive one tho, and I hate almost all people who drive an eclipse, they think they are the best but even the ones with turbos aren't that great

5.0 TBI aren't quick, but their not slow. I got a Corvette shift kit. Kills so far...
I think I raced a 4 year old on a trisicle once. I almost won too, but I had a stop Sign and he pulled ahead by a few bisicle lengths.

like my Sig clearly states, RS stands for Reasonably Speedy

Re: Wins/Losses
I hope by "street racing" you guys mean on country roads. Its just plain dumb racing in traffic....
Anyways, don't get me wrong I love racing. So far I've lost to Eclipse Gst, Mustang GT, Eclipse GS 08 and my only win was against a v6 Thunderbird..... And yes these cars are pretty slow, but they are really fun to drive!
I'm going to race some more once I finish my 350 swap.

Re: Wins/Losses
Just one more thing about the Mazda MX5. The 1st, and to a certain degree the 2nd generation MX5's are fast. They are not quick though.
You might beat it in a 1/4 mile, but on a track you will only be able to see the taillights untill, a few corners later, even they are gone from your view.
That's considering both cars are stock.

Also DrexRS is right, only street race if the conditions are right and there's is not any amount of traffic. I had an Idiot try to race us in our custom R/T magnum in his supercharged 88 Stang in the middle of Downtown Houston! WE HAD AN 88 YEAR OLD LADY IN THE PASSENGER SEAT!!! Classic Houston driver.

traffic racing is best with a blindfold on, and a full car, with a full tank of gas, at night with no lights on

Re: Wins/Losses
Win: I beat my friends 92 civic hatch a few weeks ago. His car was mostly stock except for the usual cold air and header. We were coming back from the muffler shop after straight piping my car (clogged cat), we got lucky and were stuck at a stoplight. Most of the race was uphill and my throttle cable came loose off the carb towards the top. I had to pull over and put the nut back on. Another friend claims he beat the same civic with a old ford f150
Loss: My friends 1995 jeep Cherokee around december. My bird had a ccc qjet with no wiring for it and stalled as soon as I hit the gas. Also the tv cable wasn't on properly so it wasn't adjusted at all (still isnt) so it wouldn't even shift right

My profile had better picks. It has another Skeleton On the passenger side door. And you cant see the skull and skeleton on the hood well at this angle. There is way more detail than you might think. The teeth in the vampire skull have cracks and texture.

It's def. the most origional paint job on a third gen that I have seen. The paint was def. the main selling point of the car. That and it is in great condish. Collage will be fun in this car.

Also agree strongly with skelitor, yeah it is a beautiful car. But what is the point in owning it if you can't enjoy it to it's fullest?
I call mine pieces of something all the time, but never art!

That's very true, but people don't think before doing things sometimes
And I'd definetly drive my car all the time too if it looked like that, it's just not really something I would buy, I'm not too much of a flashy person, but it's definitely a work of art

Re: Wins/Losses

The AC delete pulley costs about $25 at summit.
Another nice one (but slightly over $50) is moving the battery to the trunk (spare wheel well would be a nice location)
@ Skelitor, you look quite regular to me. I think that says more about me then it does about you however.
I also agree that cars are meant to be moved. Im building mine more towards resto/mod with slightly increased power, significantly improved handling and possibly some weight savings wherever possible but not visible. I even consider having the Z28 15" wheels widened to 8".
If I wasn't aiming for that resto look, something like the flames on yours would be very tempting (most likely in subtle blue'ish shades of blue/green/purple however). In contrast to a lot of these flamey paintjobs, the flames on your car look like the real deal. Ever considered picking up valve covers and aircleaner with engraved flames on them?
I've seen them on the TBI forums a few times and they look good.
