help diag my new camaro, sorta.
Ok heres the deal, I bought a 1989 camaro 305 tbi just a few days ago. car is auto, with 36,000 miles. original owner never drove it much. he said he might have got it out once or twice a year just to run it and then put it back away. My issue is the car stalls once and awhile while in drive or reverse, never in park yet. it runs great all the time except for the stalling issue. No codes. I checked under the hood for vacuum leaks or bad wires or anything just out of place. Before diving in and just throwing parts at it I just wanted to ask if anyone has had this issue. with the low miles i didn't think it would be egr. maybe fuel filter? Need tuneup? thanks guys.

Id replace the filter just to do it, low miles and not drove much means it sat for a while so things are most likely gummed up, i would check the filter, clean out the throttle body, and run some injector cleaner through it. If its still acting up after that i would check the fuel pressure. The pump might have enough pressure for it to idle but isnt flowing enough under a load.

fp is fuel pump, i like lucas injector cleaner, or you can get a bottle of seafoam, you add 1/3 to a full tank of gas, 1/3 to your oil, and have the last 1/3 sucked into your vacuum lines. im not sure which, ive never done this but heard of many who have. its supposed to clean everything pretty much

ok just wanted to give an update. i took the car into work. our master tech was not there so i just looked at somethings myself. took off air clearner and started looking for vacuum leaks. sprayed all over and finally killed the engine with a spray around the throttle body gasket. ah ha i thought. so i replaced it, replaced the IAC just for ***** because it only cost me 10 bucks and did some injector/intake cleaner. started up the car and the high idle seamed better. ran smoother. i put the car into reverse with AC on and car stalled. DAMMIT!!! So back to the drawing board. I realize there might be more vacuum leaks so i will spend more time on this thursdays. I just thought the leak was so large, half the gasket was gone, that would have solved it. oh well any other ideas?
