Heater Bypass Valve?

I've been told by multiple people that my disconnected vacuum line is leading to my heater bypass valve, but as it appears, the bypass valve has been replaced with the object in the following pictures. I'm 90% sure that is where my missing bypass valve should be, but I'd like some reassurance. Also when I do buy a new bypass valve I need to know which hoses go where, considering my car has some makeshift plastic object in place of the valve. So yeah...

Re: Heater Bypass Valve?

When you get the valve, the curved hose on the right in the pic goes to the single fitting on the side. The hose in the middle in the pic that goes to the heater core goes on the bottom of the two fittings on the back, and the hose on the left going to the return tube on the frame rail goes on the top of the two fittings on the back. Vacuum hose natch to the small fitting. Have fun!

Now I'm also the guy who is going to tell you to redo the wire splices and why in the heck is the CTS spliced ?

What is going on under the hood of that stock engine?

My guess... an aftermarket CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) with a different type of connector than stock, requiring the installation of the pigtail (also supplied by the aftermarket vendor).

allows them to offer it for more models, than only offering one with the correct connection.
