Hesitation Problems

On my 91 camaro everytime I ev it of take off hard the car acts like it will die but then recovers and I replace fuel pump(Due to other reasons) and tps sensory. It usually doesn't do this until it is warm not a cold start or is sitting.

what you are describing is a closed loop issue

when did you last change your O2 sensor?

Re: Hesitation Problems

I recently brought the car it had original spark plug wires and spark plugs so I should guess that the O2 sensory has gone as well

Re: Hesitation Problems

You might have a weak fuel pressure regulator, you need to check the fuel pressure, spec is 9-13 psi.
Are you running a an open element air cleaner or the stock type? These engines like warm air when the outside air is really cool. The stock type had the tube that got heat off of the exhaust manifold. If your car has it, make sure it works.

Re: Hesitation Problems

did you replace the hose to the pump when you replaced the pump?the reason i ask is i'm fighting similar problems and have narrowed it down to hose in the tank.i hooked a fuel presure gauge and after you turn the key on it spikes to 9lb and immediatley goes to 0 after the pump primes.i replaced my pump but didn't replace the hose and i'm pretty sure that's what my problem is.

Re: Hesitation Problems

Most tbi units have a small bleed hole in the regulator, so the pressure usually drops off fairly quick. To test for a leak in the tank, you have to mount the gauge into the system & pinch off the hose before it gets to the tbi unit. Cycle the key & watch for it too drop off, it should hold if its good.

Re: Hesitation Problems

Hey guys im trying the keep the clutter down on the forum. Ive got a hesitation problem with my 91 305 tbi. The car runs perfect up to 3k at WOT and then it basically sputters until you let of the throttle but as soon as you let out it will run perfect at WOT throught the rest of the RPM range. Very annoying...
