Re: How long to pull out a LO3?

In a crammed *** 1 car garage, and taking my sweet time, with also removing everything else under the hood (entire wiring harness, etc), it took me 3 days (5hrs/day) with a t5. This included the engine, harness, trans, torque arm, x member, .....etc.
Was my first time though, and I am very meticulous with things.

I'd imagine it can be done in 5 hours if you hurry your *** off. Biggest things to remove are, fuel lines, torqueconverter bolts (if applies), engine bolts, radiator, a/c lines, ps lines.

Believe it or not, I removed ALL of the engine to trans bolts with a 14mm ratcheting wrench. That was the sweetest engine pull ever.

Two guys - hydraulic cherry picker, plenty of zip lock baggies and digital pictures on a slopping driveway about 4 to 5 hours (depending on a number of nosy neighbors). What ever you do take your time and label everything. Also, if there an oil - coolant leak things tend to go slower. Bad weather will put a stop to a pull.

Junk yard pulls can be done in about 30 minutes (use of wire cutters and electric impact speeds things up)

Re: How long to pull out a LO3?

well save your wiring harness.....it's worth money and not THAT hard to remove once the engine is out.
Literally, remove the 3-4 bolts for passenger kick panel and lower dash support, unplug the connectors there. Remove the c-clip from inside from the black/grey box. And push in the two tabs, and it comes out of the passenger wheel well/fender area.

I literally just did this the other day.....it's super easy.

Re: How long to pull out a LO3?

I would remove the tranny first and then pull the engine out with headers and accessories except PS.

5 hours sonds good.

Re: How long to pull out a LO3?

we did an 8 hour engine swap (blown 350 out, old 305 in) at the track with no power tools or a lift and a cherry picker. You could probably pull it in 5 hours with some help.

Re: How long to pull out a LO3?

the actual pulling it doesn't take long. It's the preparation. If you intend on keeping some things then rusted bolts may slow you down vs using a sawzall and wire cutters.

I had a heck of a time with one ground in the back and ended up cutting and splicing.

remove the engine and tranny together still attached; much simpler
