I can't find the issue

92 Camaro RS 305 TBI

The issue I am having is the car will not kick down to normal idle, hot or cold, and if it does it runs like crap and the ECM bumps the idle back up. I did find a vac leak but i capped it off for now until I get enough line to fix it. The line that I capped it the one in between the TB and distributor that has its own 90 degree angle fitting coming out of the intake.

I cannot find any other vac leaks. I did replace the IAC thinking that was the issue but it didn't change anything. I have no codes

If anyone can point me in some kind of direction that would be great. This is my first TBI car.

Mike

I wonder and could be wrong, but would a bad o2 sensor cause this?? Causing the car to run in closed or open loop?? I dont know how to but try testing your o2 sensor.

yeah but wouldn't I have a code at least, and wouldn't it still idle down when it hit a certain coolant temp

Re: I can't find the issue

Ok I am not sure what vacuum line you capped off. Their are some you cant clearly cap off. vacuum hose isnt expensive. Go ahead and change it out.

Now to me. Obviously a vacuum leak can cause this. But another item that could cause this is the CTS-coolant temperature sensor. This is located on the front of the intake. A lot of times just the connector is bad. But the sensor goes bad too. If the computer doesnt know the coolant is warmer, it will not be able to adjust. I recomend you take it to an auto repair facility. But unfortunately if you cant afford a vacuum hose I dont think you'll be able to afford to pay someone...I hope you figure it out

Im a DIY kinda guy. the other thing is I can afford a vac hose, I just haven't had a chance to get to the store yet. so I blocked it to eliminate it right now. the car is in the garage and not being driven at the moment, I am trying to fix all the problems before i get it on the road. CTS checks out fine and the pigtail appears to be good. is it possible the ICM is going bad?

Re: I can't find the issue

The ICM would not cause that issue. Sorry if I offended you. Was not any intention. Have you went over the car with carb. cleaner and see if you could locate an intake gasket leak or throttle body gasket leak?
